This time I will start from the end.
As recently as this February 2022 the Mayor of Bologna conferred upon our host Riccardo Pazzaglia the “Turrita d’Argento”, a special recognition for his more than 30 years’ career and cultural commitment. Given that Riccardo is now in his 40s, this gives you an idea of how deep and rooted his vocation is.
But which cultural vocation are we talking about?
The “burattini”. But not just “some” burattini: the real, traditional, ancient school of the classical bolognese “burattini” puppets.
Riccardo is the last pupil of the late Demetrio “Nino” Presini, the historic “mastro burattinaio” of Bologna, a city which is widely recognised as a reference point for this kind of theatre.
We will have the chance to visit his laboratory, where he sculpts the puppet heads and sews their clothes, as he will tell us all about his art and its peculiar characters. The visit is suitable for children as well. If we will have to split into 2 groups there will be the possibility, for those who wish, to have a walk and see from the outside some magnificent villas just round the corner.
When: Saturday 12th of March 2022 at 10 am (length: 1 hour and a half/2 hours approx.)

How to get there: the best solution is to car-pool as it is scarcely connected by public transport
Language: Italian (translation will be provided if needed, but there is no consecutive translation in English)
VERY IMPORTANT: Green pass “rafforzato” (the one following the vaccine) and masks are mandatory.
Who can participate: priority given to IWF members, partners and friends allowed
Cost: 5 euros each (adults and children alike)
Max. capacity: 15 people approx.
