This time the Culture Club ventures into an itinerary to discover the history of the Bolognese Jewish community, which made its presence important by significantly modifying the course of local events and beyond.
An itinerary between architecture and papal decrees, ghettos and synagogues, tales of ancient and rich families and local politics, as well as a walk through the areas of our city which, over the centuries, have welcomed Jews into the city.
The visit will start at the ancient Ghetto, where we will be guided by the same (excellent!) guide we had at the Museo Cà La Ghironda, Maria Benassi. Afterwards we will walk to the Synagogue (1 km stroll) and enjoy a very special tour by one of their guides.
When: Sunday the 20th of February, meeting time at 9.50 to start at 10am sharp
Where: meeting point right in front of the S. Stefano Church, Piazza S. Stefano
Length: approx. 2 hours and a half, from 10 am to 12.30 approx.
Language: English
VERY IMPORTANT: Green pass “rafforzato” (the one following the vaccine) and masks are mandatory. For men: to enter the Synagogue it is mandatory to have some headgear/cap to cover your head
Spaces: we will be outside and will have microphones for the Ghetto part, whereas the Synagogue was built for 100 people therefore there will be plenty of room for our group
Max. capacity: 20 people approx.
Who: priority given to IWF members, partners and friends allowed if there is room enough
Cost: includes 7 euros for the Synagogue entry-ticket + headphones + guided tour at the Ghetto. The cost depends on the number of participants: from a minimum of 16 euros each (if we are 20 people), 18 euros each (if we are 15) to a max of 23 euros each (if we are 10). I would not go if we are less than that. I will of course let you know in advance how many we are and ask you for a final confirmation.
