Film Fans: Quand Vient L’Automne (Sotto le foglie)
Our next film is a darkly funny French drama Quand Vient L’Automne (Italian title is Sotto le foglie and the English When the Fall is Coming) by François Ozon (Eight Women, Swimming Pool, In the House). Observer’s critic thought that “this spry little French-language picture, which delights in subverting our expectations and leaves us with teasing questions about culpability and a crime, shows the director at his most understated, the better to foreground the excellent, intriguingly layered performance from Hélène Vincent.”

Film Fans: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
If you’re concerned, bewildered or enraged by the state of global politics, join me for a wonderful tale of how the world should be as opposed to how it is. Directed by incomparable Frank Capra in 1939, and starring James Stewart, this movie definitely deserves a second viewing (or the very first one if you haven’t seen it before).
