This month’s book choice defies simple definitions. Part thriller, part philosophical debate, Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead follows the eccentric Janina Duszejko as she investigates a series of murders in her remote Polish village. Author, Olga Tokarczuk, has won multiple international awards including the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2018 when she was praised for her skill in capturing “the world’s excruciating strangeness.” Please feel free to read in whichever language you prefer. As always, please sign up below if you can make it!
(We are meeting a little earlier in the month this time in order to leave enough time for December’s meeting before the Christmas holidays. December’s book is a collection of short stories by Jhumpa Lahiri: Racconti Romani/Roman Stories).
